Priorities
Josh doesn't believe in having a narrow agenda while running for City Council. Instead, he wants to focus on putting his experience to work for Overland Park across the wide range of topics that require thoughtful leadership and decision-making. That said, the following are examples of issues Josh feels are important for the future of the City.
Strong Public Safety
Josh is committed to investing in public safety and believes keeping residents safe is essential to maintaining a strong and prosperous Overland Park. He believes in building on current strengths, focusing on crime prevention, and diligently working to ensure our public safety teams are fully staffed with highly-trained professionals.
Investing in Infrastructure
Josh recognizes that maintaining the beauty and safety of our community necessitates both comprehensive long-term infrastructure planning and robust fiscal management. He supports a proactive and strategic approach to traffic calming, ensuring the safety of drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists, road maintenance, snow and ice removal, and stormwater management.
Quality Jobs & Thoughtful Placemaking
Josh believes a vibrant local economy is essential. A strong economic engine combined with effective fiscal management are keys to preserving the financial strength of our city government and avoiding tax increases. Quality jobs and amenities benefit our residents and make Overland Park a more attractive place for our next generation to return and lay roots. Josh believes in a balanced approach to this, with an emphasis on redeveloping tired districts and disciplined long-term land use planning to avoid surprise rezoning efforts.
Real Problem Solving
Josh is a problem-solver, who believes in the power of engaging in critical community conversations with civility and a focus on solutions. He believes the role of city council is to not just call out challenges impacting residents, but to solve them, which most often requires collaboration. He is committed to setting a positive example of civic engagement.
